Tick, tock, tick, tock.
Each breath that we breathe is here one second and gone the next. Each day comes and goes and we get older and older. Constantly, we have to make decisions as situations come upon us and it can all be a lot to take in.
As children, we are learning to understand the world around us. As teenagers, we are faced with dauting questions and expectations about our future. As adults, we worry so much about the now and the how.
Through it all, it can be so easy to either turn to the world for advice, or just crumble under the pressure. Dates comes quickly, creeping up on us, but decisions aren’t to be made on a whim. It's true that we sometimes get rash, the best thing to do is just slow down and breathe.
Reader, I encourage to come to God - it’s okay if you’re trembling and shaking. It’s okay if you have tears on your face as you lay your future at His feet and whisper ‘I surrender my all to You’. Your decision will forever be changed, but forever for the better.
I know, because I've lived it - I am living it - and surrendering is never easy. We can't do it by ourselves. You can be the most independent and sure person, but there will be things that you'll need to hand over. We were created for community with each other and Him.
Proverbs 16:3 (NIV) “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
Commit it all to the Lord. That means all your burdens from today, and all your worries about tomorrow. The easy thing to do would be to just continue to hold our own bondages and worries, or maybe just give Him a few. But the Bible says 'whatever you do'.
Letting go is incredibly hard because we humans think we can do things ourselves. But our Father has a beautifully wonderful and unique plan for both you and your passions. It’s okay if time is passing and decisions are coming, because God holds you closely.
Hold on to Him and let go of your fear.
Thank you, Molly. This comes at a good time for me, as I'm applying to colleges and starting to feel terrified at the thought of leaving my country and my home.
This is so true; thank you for the reminder, Molly! 💜
