I've been posting my top favorite books of the year since 2023, but I decided I wanted to continue the month's theme and do movies next! My family saw some amazing new and new-to-us films, and I can't wait to share them with you below. Feel free to share what your top movies of 2024 were in the comments!
Though this is not a new movie, I did watch it for the first time earlier in the year! And I'll unashamedly say that my sisters and I have watched it at least three times since. It's such an enjoyable, quiet movie, and if you like Jane Austen or period dramas, I'd highly recommend it.
Coming out alongside a book, this historical fiction movie was not at all what I was expecting. There was so much beauty and pain spread out among the two hours it lasted for, and the characters seemed incredibly real.
This movie definitely wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea, but the themes of our words holding so much importance and standing up against what's wrong really resonated with me. A thrilling, painful historical movie about a pastor in an assassination plot.
This is the only animated movie that made my top five list, and the artwork alone certainly made it deserve the spot! I remember reading this book many years ago, and the movie was enthralling and wonderful to watch and experience.
Now, I did not first watch this movie in 2024, and it certainly isn't a very new one, but it will always be a favorite and one that I re-watch at least once each year. The sisters and storyline hold a special place in my heart, and I highly recommend this version!
I'm not really one who watches or reads anything apocalyptic, but this thrilling movie thoroughly captured my attention. The themes of love were deeply rooted, and the action and plot was enough to keep anyone entertained. I loved how faith was portrayed, and will definitely be watching the TV series!
Needing to watch wild robot! For a really introspective watch, perfect days was a Japanese film that came out last year and was really good
Oooh, I LOVE Pride and Prejudice (2005)! Wrote a whole paper on how awesome it is in English class. 😆 I've seen White Bird and really liked it and Little Women (1994). The others on your list I wanted to see this year but never had the chance. :/
Love this post, Molly!! Sounds like you watched some great films. :) One of my favorites this year was Unsung Hero. 🥰
