The Questioning Writer

How will I ever write like them?

What if nobody likes this?

As a writer, you have most likely compared your writing to a published author’s or been nervous about what readers will think. These questions are common, but you’ll never get anywhere if all you do is compare and worry. This, however, is not to say that questions are a bad thing. There are good questions that we can ask as writers, questions that help us to grow.

Who do I write for?

This is one of my favorite questions to ask myself. He has given us the ability to write and we should use it for His glory. Remember, you aren’t writing for publicity to yourself, you are writing for publicity to the Creator, and, if your readers are on the same page as you, they will see and admire that.

How can I use my writing to help people?

Jesus said that the two greatest commandments are to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind and to love our neighbors as ourselves. Whether your words inspire or encourage other readers, help them to grow their faith or anything else, write for them out of love.

So, all this being said, what questions do you ask yourself?
