Below is a snippet of my current WIP (work in progress) that is written in verse. I've been working on I Heard The Crow Cry for a few months now and thought that it would be fun to share a sneak-peak with my readers. Enjoy!
I trudge through
the glimmering white powder.
Looking around, there are no
footprints anywhere.
I am the first one
out since last night’s snow,
walking where
no man has before.
The morning sun
is inviting and
warm.
Such contrast
to my very
cold,
booted feet.
As I continue
my walk, I
feel so care-free that
I can’t help but
whistle.
High-pitched
notes,
like a happy bird.
Thinking of
birds,
I am reminded that
there are crumbs in
my pocket.
Little pieces of bread
that I save from
breakfast
each day.
In the winter,
feathered creatures
welcome my help.
I have been
bringing the birds
crumbs every day
this week.
It is so cold, and
their little feet
do not have
boots.
My mother doesn’t
know that I
save
some of my bread.
My father doesn’t
know that I
share
with the birds.
This is my
secret.
I love going on
hikes because,
all around me,
I can see the beauty that
God has created.
He is always with me.
He is with me now,
on this cold
morning
walk.
Smiling, I see a tree
stump ahead.
I have arrived.
I loved this!
I love this snippet! Fantastic job!
