Whether you are a writer or not, I feel that every person worries about what people will think about their work. We spends days and weeks on our projects - sometimes even years - and a bad reaction from others can dampen our motivation. Because of this, it can sometimes be hard to want to submit our pieces or put ourselves out there. But let me tell you a secret…
If you do it first for God, it doesn’t matter what people think.
Yes, I did say that. If you are writing or working from your heart to your Father, then it is a spiritual matter, not a worldly one. Of course, we do need people and of course, we will need to eventually sell our books or products, but we don’t need to be obsessed over making sure that everyone likes our work because, you know what? Someone won't.
There will always be someone out there who likes a certain style, design, theme, or length that you don't produce. Everyone is wonderfully different, but that means that their personal tastes are too. So, yes, we need to create something that both has a good market and is something that we enjoy, but we don't need to agonize over people pleasing.
Maybe your project will be out in the world some day. Maybe it will stay in your Google Drive or house forever. But if it was done for Him, it will all be worth it in the end.
Such a powerful reminder Molly that is close to my heart! Right motivation is definitely key and something I need to work on. A great reminder to not care what others think of your work and to put yourself out there! This can definitely translate to other parts of life as well!💖
Excellent, excellent advice: right out of the Bible. Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Aw I love this!! Beautiful reminder, Molly! Thank you!! <33
