A Writer's Foundation

I take a walk almost every morning. Being the same route each day, I see the same houses, yards and people. One morning, I noticed caution tape at the end of someone’s driveway. Walking past, I saw that the house was burnt down! For the rest of my walk, I thought about that house. Just a day or two before, if I had been standing inside, I would not have been afraid that the roof would fall down on top of me. Now, I wouldn’t go anywhere near the building for fear that it would collapse. This worked as a reminder for me that worldly things can be torn down in the blink of an eye, but God is steadfast.

That house looked fine yesterday, but now it is destroyed. Meanwhile, God is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. If you build on a worldly thing, when that worldly thing comes crumbling down, so does your building. But, if you build on the firm foundation that is God, your building will never fall.

It is just the same with writing. If I write for the world, my writing will not have a firm foundation. But, if I write for God, my writing will be secure.

So, I ask you: What foundation are you writing on?

I pray that I am writing on a foundation that will support a building that honors and pleases God.
